2023 Summer League Teams
(Competing in BGA & FRA Summer Leagues)
League/Team Info:
STARS Basketball will be hosting tryouts on May 14th and May 21st for STARS Teams that will be competing in area summer leagues! STARS will form teams for: Rising 3rd through Rising 8th Grade Boys and Rising 4th through 8th Grade Girls (2023-2024 school year). Plan is to form two teams per grade for most age groups.
Team size: 9 – 10 players per team
Compared to other STARS teams (Spring and Winter), Summer teams represent the lowest commitment of time from a family/athlete’s perspective. Participation in a Summer League with STARS allows your athlete to get in the gym consistently twice a week for approximately 8 weeks (1 CONSISTENT weeknight for a game; 1 CONSISTENT practice night). The current plan is for STARS Teams to start practices the week of May 28th. With summer travel, out-of-town camps, etc., we expect players to miss practices/games from time-to-time; this is expected and OK.
As we have coaches/friends/contacts at both Franklin Road Academy and Battle Ground Academy, we will place teams in both the FRA PERFORMANCE LEAGUE and the BGA LEGENDS LEAGUE. Both leagues feature “one game a week (weeknight games)” and our STARS teams will practice evening per week.

- Rising 7th Boys – 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
- Rising 8th Boys – 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
- Rising 4th Girls – 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
- Rising 5th Girls – 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
- Rising 6th Girls – 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
- Rising 7th Girls – 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
- Rising 8th Girls – 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Tryout Fee: $35 (early bird price) – if registered by 5/5; 5/6 and later – $40 (tryout fee covers both tryout sessions)
- FRA Performance League – $349 (net price $329)
- Includes League Fee of $1,200, Coach Stipend, Jersey fee, and Practice Time
- Return jersey at end of the season for a $20 refund (net price $329)
- BGA Legends League – $319 (net price $299)
- Includes League Fee of $900, Coach Stipend, Jersey fee, and Practice Time
- Return jersey at end of the season for a $20 refund (net price $299)
REGISTER BASED ON RISING GRADE (2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR)
FRA Performance League:
- League begins the week of June 5th and ends on Thursday, July 27th
- Games beginning at 5 pm, 6 pm, 7 pm, and 8 pm
- Strong tentative dates: week of June 5, June 12, June 19, July 10, July 17, July 24 (tournament ends)
- Off weeks/dead period: week of June 26 and July 3; no games played on these weeks due to TSSAA Dead Period; two weeks of NO games mid-summer
BGA Legends League:
- League begins the week of June 5th and ends on Thursday, July 20th, including end-of-season tournament
- 6th grade teams will play on Thursday evenings from June 8 – July 20 (excluding July 6)
- 7th and 8th grade teams will play on Tuesday evenings from June 6 – July 18, excluding July 4
- No games week of July 4
While we plan on forming the below teams for each grade/gender, plans could change depending on volume of athletes at tryouts, talent level, and coach supply.
PRACTICES: (90-minute weekly practices) – Teams will begin practicing the week of May 28. All practices will take place at TOA Sports Performance Center (215 Gothic Court, Franklin, TN.)
