Goals of the League:

LEARN/HAVE FUN/COMPETE:  STARS coaches will provide a positive and competitive environment through purposeful skills teaching and structured games.  Each week, there will be a primary focus/teaching point.  Athletes need both proper teaching and reps. This format will allow athletes to learn and work on their skills in a structured practice and scrimmage setting.

Weekly Emphasis Points (both offensive and defensive principles):

• Week 1:  Down Screen 
• Week 2:  Down Screens and Ball Screens 
• Week 3:  Down Screens, Ball Screens, and Flare Screens
• Week 4:  Down Screens, Ball Screens, Flare Screens, and Curl Screens

Dates / Divisions:  Thursdays (July 13th, 20th, 27th, and August 3rd) and Sundays (July 30th and August 6th) – Season consists of 6 games season over 4 weeks)

• League sessions will be held at Welch College and First Baptist-Winchester (Gallatin) from 5-9pm (depending on league size, other facilities may be added)
• Two sessions the week of July 24th and July 31st (Thursdays and Sundays; see dates above)
• Grades:  Rising 4th-8th Grade Boys (2023-2024 school year)
• Divisions (Boys Only):
  • Rising 4th/5th Grade
  • JV (Rising 6th and 7th Grade)
  • Varsity (Rising 7th Grade/Advanced Players and Rising 8th Grade)
• Season consists of 6 games season over 4 weeks; see dates above

Format (Session/Game Times and Rules):

• 75 Minutes per session 
• Each session will include 20 to 25 minutes of skills/drills/teaching of weekly focus point(s) followed by 48 minutes of game play
• Games to be played at 5:00PM, 6:20PM, and 7:40 PM at Welch College and First Baptist-Winchester (depending on league size, other facilities may be added)
• Two, 24 mins halves with a running clock

Teams

• 7-9 players per team
• Individual registration only 
• Teams Formed/Coaches Assigned – Teams (players and assigned coaches) are fixed for all 4 weeks (*Player moves could happen to make teams more fair/competitive environment)
